Oliver Cromwell takes to the mainline to haul 'The Jolly Fisherman' to Skegness for a day trip, seen here at Yaxley and Holme. The first shot I had to take sound from my Previous video of Tornado to use as I had kids standing right next to me!! and there dog jumped right up my tripod hence the small section of the pan shot which is missing. However I have done my best to get it up to standard a...

Nene Valley Railway Winter Steam Gala 2013 + Derailed Britannia at Yarwell
Просмотров 290 тыс.11 лет назад
I went down to the Steam Gala Saturday and Sunday and managed to get some shots of Britannia before the unfortunate derailment, so when I found out I left Station Road and went down to Yarwell junction where you see the engineers trying to re-rail the loco. The Locos in action were; 70000 "Britannia" 4141 Large Prairie 44422 4F 22 1800 (Thomas, not on film)

Would have been good to actually see Britannia get rerailed
Is this Ivo Peter's footage?
Does anybody know of film of the 0-4-0 ‘Winston Churchill’ at Mostyn Ironworks, North Wales; a lovely small green saddle tank kept very clean even after the ironworks closed?
That was the best thing today well done to all, Ex secondman Shirebrook West.
That Train Look Like Murdoch From Thomas And Friends
The first railway line was laid d in Southern Rhodesia in 1897, running from the Union of South Africa, through Bechuanaland and on to Bulawayo. In the early 1980’s there were about 118 running steam engines in Zimbabwe. Coal was an abundant resource. A few of the engines remain in operational order. Many could be overhauled and re-fired once again…including mini-steam trains at amusement parks (former Round Table). I grew up in the Eastern Border and also lived in Braeside, Harare for a while. En-route to Umtali we used to see steam trains, and there were numerous ones operating from Bulawayo, in addition to one or two at Harare. So, walking along a railway track and collecting the large lumps of coal became a favourite game. They added great warmth to a fire or hearth. It is no surprise, therefore, that I published a book on Zimbabwean steam trains, entitled, “Sam Edward the Steam Train” by Dr. Ross Gordon Cooper, Lulu Press Ltd. This book in the making was worked on part-time for many years, as I gathered useful, genuine historical information to include therein. NRZ Railway Museum curator (Bulawayo), Mr. G. Murray, encouraged me in this endeavour. I highly recommend that you purchase yourself a copy of my book via Lulu Press Ltd online. They will then post you out a printed copy. Inbox me if you have any further enquiries. Yours truly, Ross.
Beautiful loco, looks a lot different these days
It's looked like Jack's Green or Ring Haw at the beginning !! In the former Ironstone quarries at King's Cliffe ! Jack's Green it probably is more like . Now on the Nene Valley Railway !
Isn't that orange diesel railcar (Y6 I tihnk it's called) Swedish? How come it was in the UK?
Ok looks like it’s on a point newly installed before hand
I thought it was a point derailed on but it’s on a straight bit of track very curious to what it come off
Hi I’m neal willis I happened to be in the signal box day of brittania coming off i never did know why come off I would think would have been investigated never did heard if any reason derailment was it just bad luck or what any report came out was 8 years ago
Some magnificent film-making here. From the days when Britain actually made things and made many things better than anyone else in the world. But you have to wonder how many of those workers died early from respitory diseases.
Would love to see William Francis operating again in its old lined blue livery
sad
Nice video, really nice to watch and see. Hoping to one day create my very own gigantic model railway, maybe combining some railways or inventing my own railway aswell station names? Haven't decided yet? Thinking OO Gauge railway is what I thinking of using or N Gauge?? Not really sure? Cheers for uploading and sharing, really loved the video, have both Liked and Subscribed & look forward to seeing more videos like this in future. 😀👍
So grateful for railway photographers filming railways that were not romantic at the time. Prefer an industrial 0-6-0 loco working hard to a A4 or Britannia runing on BR. Did I see the Rev. Teddy...A railway legend as well as the famous Bentley!
You wouldn't stop playing with it, and now look what you've done! :D
Let me guess... faulty points were the culprit?
Love these engines , the steam and puff and the sound ! Great invention that changed and shaped in many ways , the world.
Wonderful video! Thank you. Cause of the derailment?
You now what that's what I do easy ain't it
Some very good video of Britannia for the enthusiast like me. Being a fan
Thank you for uploading this, interesting watch
This is amazing Ashley! 50 years ago, I used to travel from Liverpool St to Harwich on the Hook Continental. That was when they used to load the cars on by crane! After a usually dreadfully rough North Sea crossing on the SS Avalon, I boarded the Rheingold in Hoek van Holland...a super modern electric Trans European Express with air con and tinted windows, all the way to Munich. So good to see Britannia with that head plate. Thank you so much for this.
Wonderful video, beautiful museum! In the US, in both the steam and diesel eras, most freight locomotives have carried a pair of rerailing frogs, which are cast ramps with raised edges, that can usually resolve a minor derailment by guiding the wheels back onto the track. They are a formalized version of the attempt to wedge dunnage under 70000's wheels. They would have handled this single axle derailment easily. Search "rerailing frog" on google. Since it was at a switch near the points, the frogs would probably have been placed behind the derailed axle. Of course, in the past, they were needed, since the US probably had more minor derailments than the UK, due to casual track maintenance and spikes into ties.
great video magic
Good job it was 'Britannia'. Had it been 'Ollie' his anger would have known no bounds!
I'm still trying to get my head around how only 1 wheel derailed? Must have been very stressful for all the volunteers for the Gala.
Narrator name please?

Great vid keep up with catfishing. One negative thing can't believe u carried that cat with no sling. But apart from that gd vid
is this part of a larger documentary ?
Worst video I`ve ever seen. Beautiful theme. The steam engines are a beauties, every one of them. The camera handling is wretched. The editing is in disorder, out of chronology. AH Photography, you`re a looser... Sorry.

What??? :O Did you read what I wrote...
Unless you've anything nice to say to him keep your mouth shut.
@@MasterMoyle Generally I do. But upon this work I must write my experience... Sorry...
And another engine like Edward the blue 4th small engine and his the oldest engine
I see Thomas the tank engine and Oliver's shape also Bill or Ben's shape
I am pretty sure that's the late Rev Teddy Boston at about 8:20-8:30 holding the catch-point lever.
I thought so too.
plz tell me who narrates this vidoe
Captain Dildoface he sexy ngl
and now that taff vale engine is the last surviving standard guage steam locomotive built in Wales
Did both ex TVR locos end up at Lampton then? TVR no.85 at the KWVR was a lampton loco too.....although she was a Glasgow built loco
A large group of senior citizens 60+ filled with decades of knowledge, all helping to rerail another senior citizen, Brittania, 62 years old. Wonderful. Respect gentlemen. Respect.
And they changed their name from Nene Valley Steam Railway to Nene Valley Railway because they found it more profitable to run their 'specials' with a shitty diesel shunter instead of a steam loco.
Would anyone please tell me if you have any footage of the byfield line or in particular the locomotive shown in the first clip, the train is called Cherwell and is currently at the rushden historical transport museum our goal is to restore her and I would like any photos or videos that can show the locos features and how she is supposed to perform any info would be greatly useful and appreciated
I don’t have any pictures but I just want to say good luck, you’re doing amazing work.
There seems to be a lot of derailed locos on Nene Valley Railway. Is their p-way crew in need of training? A week on Keighley civs would soon sort them out.
